The Egmont Farmers' Union Limited' Hawera, March 29. We held our usual monthly sale at Okaiawa on tbs 22nd inßt, when Very few cattle were yarded, but a fair number of sheep. The stock as a whole were a very good lot, so that we disposed of nearly all the cattle, but the sheep were very slow of sale, We quote 18 months to 2 year steers £2l7s Sd to £3 lis; yearlings and weanera £llos to £ll6s; springers £4 to £5 ss.
Owing to our Horse Fair falling on the 24th isst, in the middle of the Easter Holidays, we bad rather a email entry and the horses were not quite such a goodlot asusnal, There was a lari>e attendance, but bidding was decidedly dull, most of ihreiierves being high, though we Mgfcd however to place a good of boraes at fair values. We HB-Draughts, £l4 6s to £2O; HBte lo3 ' sale. The atten - and lidding slack that not much business done. 1 Earthquakes and Waterspouts, (By Telegraph.—Press Association). Kmkouka, Monday. There was a sharp earthquake shock at 1.45 a.m., which lasted about 45 seeonds, the dircotion being east and west. Waterspouts were seen off here yesterday, travelling from the east. One appeared to burst on the coast about twenty miles north. (ByTelegraph—Own Correspondent.) Feathemton, Monday. A severe shock of earthquake was felt at 1.45 this morning from the south east, the duration being 20 seconds. From Kaiwaiwai cornea the same report with heavy gales of wind and rain, A sharp shock of earthquake was felt this morning at 1.45 a.m. at Greytown, and at Oarterton about 2 o'clock.
