CORRESPONDENCE.

OurM and Milk Supply.

[xo THE EDITOR, W.P. ; Sir, —You deserve the tbnitks of the obtnmutiity for drawing attention in your leaderette of Thursday's issue of the Daily Times to the rink we run of using meat from : diseased animal*. Possibly the Maaterton Viutohera are above suspicion; yet they .are, after all only human, and therefore liable to temptation and failure. In my 1 opinion it is high time a syatfm of i slaughterhoase and meat inspection i waß carried out, so as to do away ! with the chance uf any diseased and unwholesome meat being sold to iho 1 public. Id all townspublid ahuitoirs should be the rub, where every animal and carcase should be examined by an expert, and the most Bot upulous cleanlifieaa insisted upon. ,Ab ibinga are at present all that lies between the putting into consumption of a diseased animal, is thn conscience of the meat vendor. I ask is this enough ? Oases of in the oommunity' are. Incoming more common every day, and no doubt this, and many other dieeases originate from unwholesome ramt, and from milk from unhealthy cows, and dirty dairies. Milkmen too should be licensed, and an Inspector occasionally viaiiimj the various dairies and inspecting tho premises and milch cows, would ensure cleanliness, and do away with the risk of milk from uubealthy cows being sold, • 1 am, eto., Ookbdueb'. .
