Ordinary'Ming,' :: The regular fortnightly meeting of the Maaterton Borough Council was held ;last evening. Present '.-.Ore Feint (in the chair) Hornblow, Dixon, Mutrie, Yates, Chamberlain, and W. If they opened the door to this sort of thing other societies would apply for the same privilege audthey would not know where to draw the line. There were plenty of other hallß and places available. Cr Yates seconded and the motion was carried. BANK ACCOUNT, A letter from the Bank of Australasia with reference to the Borough accounts waa referred to the Finance Committee. A REQUEST, J. T. fienrdon, stoker at the gas works applied to be put on day duty one week out of every four. The application was referred to tho gas committee. A TOWN OLOOK. The Automatio Calendar Clock Company wrote offering «o ereot a clock in tho town and vest the same in the Borough Counoil, provided that the Counoil allows the company, to use certain advertising space as they may think fit. Cr Dixon moved that the offer be accepter], Cr Feist seconded and the the motion was carried. GAS REPORT. . The Gas Committee's report was read. Or Feist said the Mayor of Greytfiwn wished to know if the Maaterton Borough would supply the Greytown Council with tar at 3d per gallon. They were now obtaining tyb for small quantities but he thought the Greytown ConnoiFs offer a fair one and would move it be accepted. The motion was carried and the report adopted. . . FOOTPATHS. i Cr Dixon moved that the Overseer he instructed to repair the footpath in Worksop road, The repairs were much needed and the residents were entitled to the expenditure of the money. Association intended to move the loose stones off their new show ground, and as he thought the stones would be useful to the Council when collected he would move that the Council send two men to assist in pioking up the stones : on Thursday, April sth. Or. Hornblow thought that they should do nothing of the kind. He did not believe in sending the men to assist the A, and P. Association clear their grounds when the ntaff bad more work than they oould do. Other sooieties would want the loan of the Borough staff if this were done, Or Dixon said he agned with Or Hornblow. He thought that if the Sooiety were allowed to put the stones in the gravel pit it should be satisfied, Or Feißt said it appeared to be a special offer advantageous to the Counoil.
