:odr contemporary says that Mr Hntobieon, B>M„ fined a man' on Mondayfor not saying where he got Mb liquor, The Court record says that the man. was .fined for being drunk. Either the Court record or our looal contemporary is in error, and we leavo it to the latter to explain the diaoreptanoy, Yesterday two Liberal justices very properly put a similar question to another person arrested on a Similar charge. Last evening children returning from the Presbyterian soiree complained of the nnmber of'drunken men in the street, ohe.of whom bustled the little ones. Npw,' we want better regulation and order than this in. Masterton, and if the Stipendiary Magistrate'and the Justices of the Peace put awkward questions to the culprits who are brodght before tbem, they are simply doing, itheir duty by the pnblic. There is too much drunken-1 ness about Masterton. We fail to soe why "women and ohildren should be annoyed by ithe spectacle of intoxicated about the Streets i on week days and Sundays, and should iMr Hutahision " and the" Liberal i-Justices attempt <to pat-{lown this sort of thing they-will deserve the thanks of not only the pohllo'but also of the respeotable pnblicwi.
