I Mr W. 0, Beard moved " that this [ Committee is thoroughly satisfied with the results attained at the Infant's School during Miss Keeling's head • teacbership, and that the Education Board therefore bo requested not to place her on Mr Jackson's staff, or to interfere with the existing arrangements, as any change in this direction would be, in the opinion of the Committee, prejudicial to the best interests of tho Masterton Main School and thelnfanta' School," Mr Morris seconded the motion, and several members had upoken in its lavor, it was put and carried unanimously. ItEPOBTS. The Head Teacher reported 580 scholars on the roll at the Muiti School wiih an average attendance of 479. Miss Keeling reported 113 scholars on-the roll at the Infants School with an average attendance of 94 tor the past month, Mr Beard moved that Mr Jackson provide a list of what school furniture is required, end that the Bourd be requested to supply the articles. MrEasthope seconded, and the motion was carried. •- v "' • WATER supply. Mr Beard asked what the terms were on which the Masterton School was supplied with water, V The Seoretary said Is per annum if demanded. Mr Easthupe said he thought it time to consider _ the question of teaching the first and second standards at the second school, It would be of benefit to the north end of the town He was not prepared to move any resolution, but thought members might give the matter consideration, Air Beard thought by introducing the standards they would be increasing the work of Miss Keeling and perhaps, weakening the Alain school, The matter required consideration. After some little discussion the subject dropped, SCHOLARSHIP.

Mr Beard said he wished to once ngain bring up the question of urging upon the Town Lands Trust the question of providing a fixed scholarship. . l(o time should be lost and be move that a committee again wait on tbe Town Lands Trustees to •urge the setting apart of a fixed sum for the purpose stated. Mr Pragnell seconded the motion, The Chairman and Mr Daniell expressed sympathy with the matter. 1 Mr Beard said that it had been said that the movement was in favor of the children of the more well-to«do class. He thought experience showed otherwise. Education should be a •head and shoulders above any other matter as regards expenditure of tbe Town Lands Trust funds. Mr Daniell Baid he should like to see the Fernridge School included in tho motion. Mr Beard said this was his intention,hut not to include any denominational or private schools at all. However, the details might be left to the Town Lands Trust lot subsequent consideration. The motion was carried, Messrs Beard and Easthope being appointed to wait ou tbe Town Lands Trustees. SCHOOL SWINGS, Mr Hoar said he wished to call attention to the (act that the swings at ibe Main School wore in a dangerous condition, It was resolved that Mr Danioll bp deal with the matter, VISITING MEMBER, Mr Beard was appointed visiting member and the meeting closed.
