TheEgmont Farmers' Union, Limited,

We held a clearing sale on behalf of Mrs J, K. Johnson, of the Eltham Koad, on Thursday, the Ist inßfc. The sale: consisted of 36 dairy cows of good quality, the bidding for which wsb fair, so that all were sold under the hammer, thi highest price realised being LG 7s Gd, whilst the average of the line was L 4 14s Gd. A line of weaners was also sold at trom Ll ss' to Ll Us Gd.

Our Stratford sale, whioh was held on Friday, the 2nd inst., was again rather a quiet one, the entries being small, but though bidding was slack throughout we managed to place most of the lines of cattle entered, prices being about on a par with those of last sale. We quote—2J to I year bul - locks, L4to L 5 2a; 18 months steers, L2lßstoL3; weaners.Ll 11 toLl 15s; cows und heifers in calf, L 8 5s toil 5s

At the Hawera sale yards on Wednesday the 7th inst. our entries of stock were large, most olasses being represented,' There was' a very, fair attendance and good bidding, so that we disposed of nearly all large cattle without any trouble, the exception being seme .fat cows of medinm quality, upon which the reserves were more than purchasers cared to give. Stores and young stock were fairly brisk, themajoritychangingbands.at the hammer. Sheep were in more active demand, and we placed every line,: that came forward for Bale, though prices. still rule rather low particularly foraged ewes. We quote •-Forward bullocks; L4l4s to Lsßs 6d; 18 months to 2 .year steors, L2 16s to L 8 8s; weaners and yearlings, Ll Is toLl 189 6d; fat cows, L3lßs fld to L 4 7s; 2 year heifers in calf, L 3 Is to L 3 ss.
