There was a narrow escape from drowning in the Matarawa ford at Greytowo, on Wednesday evening. Three men in a cart were crossing when the horse stuck up and tbe current overturned the vehicle and it was the greatest miracle they escaped. One named Meade was very much exhausted when he reached the shore though the river was not in flood.
