MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Ordinary Meeting,

The regular fortnightly meeting of the Masterton Borough Counoil was held last evening. Present—Hia Worship the Mayor, ami Cra Dixon, v Hornblow, Mutrie, Yates, Feist, Chamberlain and Perry. MOTES. The minutes of tbo last regular meeting were read and confirmed. OAS METERS, ; Messrs Johnston Wo. wrote offer- ' ing to supply crown gas meters. COAL. The Masterton Park Trustees wrote stating that the consideration of the Council's offer to take over the Park - had bean left over. pendintLfcTcnlv from the Town Lands Tru#®" 1 CHARITABLE AID. v> The Seoretary of the U.D.i.B, • wrote requesting payment of £B4lßs It was resolved to refer the ac-. count baok, as an overcharge of £so' is shown, lIIE TOWN ORESK, Mr J, Macara wrote complaining of tho continued obstruction of the Town Greek, The Clerk said that proceedings were being taken against theproperty holder below Mr Macara. , 11 was resolved that the Gas Committee be asked to do without the water, so that the flood-gats may be kept up. FOOTPATHS. A number of applications from residents requesting that the foot, paths in front of their premises might be asphalted were received. The Mayor said he had authorized the Overseer to do the work, KGAMATAWA ROAD. Mr A. R Bunny wrotn forwarding the agreement between Mr Perry and the Council n Ngamatawa Road. .Resolved that the Borough seal bo affixed to the document. SUBSIDY, The Treasury Department wrote informing tho Council that subsidy. • amounting to Ll4O 10s6d had been passed for payment to the Counoil. BURGESS LIST. An application from- Mr W. A, Eive to have his name placed on the bui'gesß roll was granted, ' IB BUILDIHG REGULATIONS. B Mr A, W. Renall wrote'drawing 9 attention to the violation of the build- H ing regulations in the erection of the B W.F.CJ.'s additions to their Master- M ton premises. 8 Cr Feist moved that Mr Renall be V informed that tho matter has been 1 already dealt with by the Council.- 1 Cr Cullen seconded and the motion - 1 was carried. j GAS LAMPS. Several residents in tho neighbourhood of Dixon street and Worksop Road petitioned the Counoil for the erection of a gas lamp. - The report of the pointed-to-t'SDffdSTfEe'p^^nM erecting more lamps reported in favor of erecting three; one at the corner o£ Ross and Dixon Street, one at tho corner of Wrigley and OhaAol Street; and one at the corner of Sussex Street and Worksop Road. Cr Yate3 said they had objeoted to lay gas to Mr Pragnell's on tho score of cost. He thought tho lamp in Dixon Street could be done without. Cr Dixon thought the Worksop Road lamp should be lower down than Sussex street. Cr Cullen spoke in support of the petition. Cr Feist and the Mayor thought that the lamp at the corner of Ross •... . and Dixon Street might be dona without, Cr Hornblow pointed out that the street suddenly narrowed at this point, and a lamp was muoh required* Cr Dixon said that the lamp they proposed to do without was tho one must needed. After further discussion it wea resolved not to erect t\ lamp at the corner of Ross and Dii:on sfflffit, but to ereot tho others a 6 recommended. ■ ACCOUNTS, Accounts as presented were passed for payment, with tho exception ot i one in the estate of C.
