Our Welliugtou correspondent gives the Wellington side of the difficulty in connection with the present school election. It admits thac ctrou» lars were sent out late to School Committees, and this admission simply gives tho Board away. The Board is responsible for the conduct of the eleotions and for twenty years the initial step taken by it has been a circular. The Board doeß not want Mr Hogg there, and the circulars are sent out so late that he cannot be nominated. The three retiring members, all good Wellington men, are re-elected without opposition, and everybody, (in Wellington) is happy. Now, this is another view of the question wbioh is being taken in the country. We aro not a supporter of Mr Hogg's candidature, for we would like to see Mr Feist representing Master, ton, but there must be fair play for country candidates, It would be better if the Board called for nominations openly by advertisement instead of placing itself under the suspicion of performing a " hanky panky " triok by delayed circulars. Country people are dissatisfied, and in these Dick Seddony days it is not difficult for discontented people to re ■ I dress a grievance, The Board consists ot honourable men who are unlikely to commit themselves to any wrong act, but they may wink at a little sharp praotice over the present' election, which they may deem to be advantageous to the community, but if they do they will aggravate rather than allay the feeling of discontent, wbioh exists in the country.
