The Mayor and the Council, (ByTelegrapk-Own Correspondent). ObeytownNoutii, Tuesday, Ihere was a slight breeze at the Oounoil meeting last night, The Mayor wanted a motion passed empowering the Worko Committee to aocept all tenders without referring to the Council, and added tint if they couldn't deal with such a paltry matter tbey were not lit to be Councillors. The Council, metaphorically,' sat on' lhe Mayor in a body, and squashed him flat, and he withdrew his motion. Very littln business was done beyond adopting a tender for breaking 100 yards road metal at 2s 9d. The Land Court is sitting here today, Judge Mnokay presiding
