BODY FOUND IN WELLINGTON HARBOUR.
A man named A. West, a seaman on the ship Blenheim, has beon missing since Saturday night last. On that evening he was drinking with his mates in town, and was last seen at 1 a.m. on Sunday, It being supposed by tho police tbat he was drowned, the harbour was dragged for his body yesterday, but without success. About 4 o'clock, however, a man named John Jeromson informed Constable Osmers that tho body of a man was under the wharf at the B shed, lying on one of the stringers, whore he had probably been left by tho ebbing tide. The body was that of a man sft Bin I or Sin in height, well dressed in a dark suit. The remains were in an advanced stage of decomposition. In the pockets were a watch and chain, and Is Cd in silver. The body was evidently tbat of a seafaring man, and it was at first thought that it was that of a man who was missing from the barque Tahiti. The mate of that vessel was accordingly coromunioated with, but on Feeing the body at the morgue, whither it had been conveyed, he was unable to identify it. No one from the Blenheim has yet seen the remains, but it is considered improbable tbat it. is that of the man West, who when last seen had neither coat nor vest on, whereas this body was fully dresßed, An inquest will be held in due course.— N. Z. Times,
