Outt local contemporary, writhing under a well-earned defeat in the late Town Lands Trust election makes a a personal attack upon ourselves, and says we were determined that a political opponent should not win, Now, it so happens that before we asked Mr Daniell to come forward we tried to induce a political opponent to take the the seat, as we thought that the interests of the town would be served by Mr A. W. Hogg filling the vacancy. Mr Hogg did not see his way to accept, and as we did not think the interests of the town would be promoted by the return of Mr .Vile we invited Mr Daniell to stand, and his election, we are assured, gives general satisfaction.
