(By Telegraph-Press Association.) Wellington, Monday. Despite the statement of Ministers on Saturday that they did not intend to make (ho appointments of the Railway Commissioners public, lengthy telegrams giving full particulars, appeared in some, papers the same afternoon, tyhiph must have beep transmitted while Ministers were refusing to announce the ap» pointments here. It is necessary, therefore, to explain that when the Cabinet rose at 1 p.m. on Saturday, representatives of the Press Aasooiv tion and other reporters waited on the Premier, who told them that the appointments were to be made known but thot the Cabinet had left it in the hands of Mr Reeves to explain what had been done. Another Minister also said thai the decision would be communicated to 1 the., press by the Premier who was pressed to give the names, but refused on the grounds that Mr Heeves was to be the mouth-piece of the Ministers. Mr Beeves w&a there-, fore interviewed, but flatly refused to say anything, adding that Mr Seddon must have been misunderstood as the Cabinet had decided not to publish the result of their deliberations. The re™ porters then went back to the Cabinet room where the Ministers were again assembling, and interviewed Mr Ward, then Mr, Beeves and again finally Mr Ward, three hours had been spent in endeavoring to' persuade Ministers to make tip their minds a final answer was relumed that a resolution had been passed by the cabinet that nothing was to be delivered at present.
