Kahu from the Ohathem 8 Islands, brought the news, of the J stranding of the Jessie' Keadman to i Lyttelton last night. The vessel 3 was under the command of 3 Captain Burton, and had a full cargo of wool, valued at £60,000, i shipped by Messrs Murray, Roberts 1 and' Co. She experienced strong 1 north-west winds after-leaving the | New Zealand coast, and on the morn- [ ing of December 23rd, at four o'clock, i in thick dirty weather,'took the ground t at dead high water, and sbon was hard t and fast. The wool is being taken off s the vessel by means of a wire rope, and stored on the island. The vessel is ■ making water, but an. ordinary force pump has so far been able to keep it , from rising in the hold, The rudder . is slightly damaged, otherwise the hull appears uninjured. She may , possibly begot off after all the cargo t is out,. The Kahu leaves Lyttelton , to-night with gear, etc, to attempt to • float the vessel.
