ltandwick was bred by Isaac Lee Esq., of New South Wales, imported to New Zealand by Mr S, Horsfall as a two-year-old. The thoroughbred entire Eandwick, by Barbarian, dam Qipsy Oirl, (for extended pedigree eeo Victorian Stud Book) is one of the best that has ever raced on New Zealand turf; colour, golden chestnut; standing fifteen hands three inohes high, of immense power and blood, pourtraying good temper, and traces descent from the most aristocratic strains of racing blood in the colonics, his siro being tu'l brother to The Bub, tho best horse of his day in New South Wales, by tho famed Sir Hercules out of Young Gulnaro. ltandwick is full brother to Gipsy. Cooper, half brother to Zulu, winner of the Melbourne Gup, half brother to The Barber, champion weight-for-nge horse of Australia, Bandwick's career on the turf was most brilliant On ojo occasion he gave the redoubtablo Billingsgate lGlbs, at his own distance, and won comfortably. In 1881 Bandwiok was second on tho list of winners, having won over £1,500 in stakes in ono season. Among these maybe mentioned the Napier Cup of 500 sovs, and Wanganui Stakes of 250 sovs, beating Libeller, Natator, and a large field of the best cattle. Eandwick is notorious for carrying heavyweights over all courses, distance being no object to him, He has won tho weight-for-age Auckland Plate, two miles, atEllerslio; also ran second in Easter Handicap, giving the winner (the Poet) 2st lib, and was only defeated by a nose; won tho Dargaville Cup; won the big races next day, carrying over 9 stone; won Henderson Mill Cup, carrying 9st 21b and immediately afterwards won tho Shorts 9st 91b, landed a few days a'terwards at Taranaki, and contested the Cup of 300 sovs, carrying 9st, and was defeated by a short head, giving the winner 2st 71b; won the Handicap on tho following day currying 9st lib; started the following rac3 carrying list 21b, and won easily from a field of fresh horses.
