The match arranged for between Mastwton and Tenui; at Tentii, was not played on ticootmt of the Master-; [ton team i.ot turning up. A large, number of the. Teuui players had assembled, and sides were picked by Messrs Astall,(Masterton), and Owen (Tenui), and a very enjoyable game was played, Uweii's team winning by fifteen points to Jen. Owen and A. Gnmoron played well, Camiron getting thu tries, whioh wore successfully converted by Owen. The tries for ABtall's.sidtt were obtained by W, Speedy and Nichulls, and were converted by Oargill nud Speedy. Ou ; the previous evening a successful ball was held under tho auspices of tho Tenui Olob, the few visitors present being very hospitably entertained. The Tenui boys were much disappointed at the nou appearance of the Masterton team. ' The final match between the, Carterton and Greytown teams will be played at Carterton next Saturday to decide the ownership of tho Junior Cup for the season, A very lough and determined struggle is expected.
A.match between a team from the Wellington Club, and the Welch family of the Wairarapa, took place at Petonc on Saturday, tho former winning by 33 points to B.' The game was a fast urn) interesting one, in spite of the large score run up by the Wellington's. The family forwards wero equal to the Wellington, but their backs were very weak, and the winners made ita back game and did some very good passing, Gillon, Johnston, and K. and A, Duncan being prominent, The Duncans' played a great game, K. being very dashing, He. scored three tries and potted a goal, Roe got two tries and Keeves and Stuart one each, A, Duncan kicked five, goals from six attempts, 'i oin Welch placed a good goal from a penalty (tick. Pownall, Roe and Murray were the best forI wards for Wellington, and the Duncans and Johnston were the best backs.
