Taxation—While tho bulk of the revenue ;of tho colony is 60 largely derived from Curtomslduties tho present system of Land and Incomo Tux (including tho graduated aud absentee taxes) press more equitably on those ablo to pay than tho l'roperty Tax did, but for further equalization the Customs duties should be remittedfrom the necessaries ol life, liAkd—The area of land to be held by oue person or firm should be restricted, but I would not support confiscatory legislation as affecting existing holdings, Settlers should choose their own tenure and the State should assist settlement by advances on improvements wheronecessary. Yaluablo forests should lie conserved. ALConok-Tho Liquor traflio should bo subject to direct vote, and tho majority of thoso who pall should deoide. The present laws on this question should be consolidated and amonded 60 that tho trade may he improved in those districts where it is continued. The law should bo moro stringent in requiring that nothing bu puro liquor bo sold, and houses which fail to provide full accommodation should bo discouraged. Labouh—Legislation should be in tho direction of discouraging tho indolent and the malingerers, distributing the unemployed, scouring-for every worker somo leisure for recreation and intellectual pursuits, and equal reward for equal work, whether performed by man or woman, General-Strict economy should bo observed, and all laws should be made while tho legislators are awake and able to attend to their duties.
