Hawbra, Sept. 7,1898, Considerably more than double the nmnbsr of cattle advertised oame forward for sale, at Stratford on Friday, tho Ist inst, thus completely filling all our yards, There was a fair attendance and all classes of cattle wero well competed for, so that most of the stock changed hands at- the hammer or immediately after, We quote:—lß months to 2 year steers, £8 10s to M 6s; yearlings and weanois,Hlssto£2 Us; springers, £4 5s to £6los; hoilers in oulf, £8 to £3 16s 6d.
Our fortnightly sale at Hawera on Wednesday, the Gth inst,, was well attended, there being a good many purchasers present from outside the district, Nearly all the advertised quantity of stock came forward, the cattle being a really superior lot. j Bidding was brisk thoughont the 'sele, 60 that scarcely anything left the ynrda unsold.
