Mr Whitt's Euidence.
(To ths Editor W. D. Times.)
It is reportud that Mr Whiltstated in tho B.M, Court on Friday that I had brought into Court a private conversation he had had with me about his business dealings with th& well-known convicted keeper of a. house of ill-fame. I may say in reply to this; 1. That I took no conversation with Mr Whitt into Court. 2. Mr Whitt went into Court of his own option. lam credibly informed that he frankly stated to a member of the Vigilance Committee that he was willing to state what ho knew about the character of the woman in quostion. 8. Mr Whitt who on other occasions has shown tuat he has the courage of his conviotionff. Some months ago he threw himself into ii movement for the commercial extermination of the Masterton Chinese shopkeeperfl, moved by a regard for the moral well-being of Masterton! T regret that at this crisis in the history of Masterton, when the morality of the" Unspeakable Turk " is being thrust upon us, Mr Whitt should not take a firm stand against this evil.—l am, etc., Bobert Wood.. Manse, Masterton, Tuesday.
