Tho thoroughbred entire Bandwiok, by Barbarian, dam Gipsy Girl, (lor estended pedigree see Victorian Stud Book) is one of the best that has ever raced on New Zealand turf; colour, golden chestnut; standng fifteen hands three inohes high, of immense power and blood, pourtraying good ternper> and traces descent from tho most aristocratio strains of racing blood in the colonies, his sire being fu'l brother to The Bra, the best horse of his day in Now South Wales, by the famed Sir Hercules out of Young Gulnare. Bandwick is full brother to Gipsy Cooper, half brother to Zulu, winner of the Melbourne Cup, half brother to The Barber, champion weight, for-age horse of Australia, llandwick's career on the turf was most brilliant. On ojo occasion ho gave.the redoubtable Billingsgato 161bs, at his own distance, and won comfortably. In 1881 Bandwick was second on the list of winners, having won over £1,600 in stakes in one season. - Among these may be mentioned the Napier Cup of 500 bovs, and Wonganui Stakes of 250 sovs, beating Libeller, Natator, and a large field cf the best cattle. Bandwick is notorious for carrying heavy weights 07er all oourscs, distance being no objeot to him. He has won tho weight-for-age Auckland Plate, two miles,i at Ellerslie; alsoran second in Easter Handicap, giving the winner (the Poet) 2st lib, and was only defeated by a nose j won the Dargaville Cup; wou the big races next day, carrying over 9 stono; won Henderson Mill Cup, carrying Sst 21b and immediately afterwards won tho Shorts 9st 91b, landed a few days a'terwards at Taranaki, and contested the Cup of 800 bovb, carrying 9st, and was defeated by a short head, giving the winner 2st 71b; won tho Handicap on the following day carrying 9st lib; started tho following raoa carrying list 21b, and won easily from afield of fresh horses.
