It is as follows : Whether any provision is made for rabbit poisoning commencing in disr trictann one given day ? If so, is this provision carried out; if not, will ho so provide ? The Clergy. Sir John Hall is raising the question of whether the Government intend to afford any roliof to the clergy in tho Diocese of Christchurcb, who3o small incomes are subjected to the heavy graduated land tax. The Public Petitions Committee have favourably recommended that relief should he granted, The same taxation, no doubt, materially affects the stipends of country clergymen in this Diocese and them is no reason why some action should not be taken i also. Wellington Diocese. ' I hear that considerable difficulty is being experienced in obtaining in ' England a suitablosuccessor to Bishop Hadfield. The stipend, it is said, is not enticing enough for a good man to leave a comfortable living and fair prospects of proferment at Home for ' a colonial bishopric ! A Merited Punishment. ; Much satisfaction is felt here at the : severe sentence of twelvo months im- ' priaontnent imposed upon tho man flayes convicted of indecent exposure.
