Head ; Teaoher report 581' names'. on the roll; with attendanoe of 409." 7be low attendance was due to the • prevailing bad: weather and the measles epidemic' On the 4th August the boys of the fourth and fifth standards were organized into gangs, and under the teachers' direction trees, were planted and fenced. A visit of inspection had been paid to the school by Mr R. Lee, on the 11th, mat. A request had been received from the Rev. A. JB, Lytken, medical missionary and exprisoner of' Siberia,, to be allowed to address the elder children, : Mr W. G. .Beard moved that no action be taken with regard to the proposed lecture by Mr Lytken, If they commenced this sort ;'of. thing there was no knowing where it would end. He thought they ought to make a rule not to encourage persons travelling about in this.way, ' Mr Feist seconded and the motion was carried. DRAffIKG EXAUIHATION. Messrs Feist and Pragnell nhdertookthe'•supervision of tho annual drawing examination, MKASLES.' •• Mr-Beard asked what bommunioation Mr Jackson had received regarding the measles from the Education Board. .
' Mr Jaokson explained that as the attendance was falling o(T through the the number of families' affeotod,,.-h8 had written to the Board, the Beotetary replying that he was not to send any children away on aocount of measles being in their homes, Mr Beard said it was aT&frWir for the parents, whose- children 'wore attending eohool, to deoido, Mr Jaokson said that until the Board had instructed him to send no ohildren home, ho had sent 'children; away in eta where measles was ia their homes. After further discussion the matter, was allowed to drop, no action being taken,
ALTERATIONS. Mr Daniell moved and MrPragnell seconded that the Board's atlentionbe called to the fact that plans ate cot yet prepared for the additions to the Masterton Main School—Carried, ■' INFANT SCHOOL. MibsU Keeling reported that the attendance at tho Infant School during the month had been unusually low owing to measles and bad weather. For the same reasons pro* bably, no new children had besa admitted, With 96 on the roll the average attendance hud been 67. ACCOUNTS, The following accounts #cre passed for payment :-W.
