THE WOMEN'S FRANCHISE.

Sir George Witmore in Trouble, (By Telegraph.—Preea Association.) Auckland, Monday, The Womena' Franchise League Executive has passed a resolution as followr:-" This Leaguemost strongly objects to the gross misstatement of Sir Geo, Wbitmore, introduced into his speech in opposition to tbe granting of the franchise to women. If the so-called hon. member would tske the trouble to verify his statements, he would find that the petitions were largely signed by married women, who have tf-frrndouß stake in the oountr/j and by educated thought' fal women who will consider well what mannerof man they choose to represent them. The insult he gratutiously offered the women of - New Zealand demands a prompt and ample apology."
