The-Mayor forwarded an apology for absence, and stated that the' report of Mr John King.« water "and drainage would be plaoed before the .< next meeting of the Council. ':>'. Urs Beard and Douglas reported several cases of measles in ihe Borough. ~ From the Carterton Borough Connoil stating willingness to support' Mr Hare's nomination for the District U.A. Board. Applications were received from Messrs E. P. Pragnell and 0. Hughes, asking to have their names added to. the Burgess Lißt.—Granted. y\ ," Prom the Maftertoa.TcHty/fjteit s ' Tiusteeß, stating their »ijlingness.to allow the Council to lease an extra chain .of land, as required for Fire : Brigade purposes at a rental of £2 . 10s, making £l7 10s in all for thesection, and also agreeing to contribute towards a report on the Wai-" poua river.—The offer of the extra' pieoo of land was acoepted. Application was made by the Masterton Munioipal Fire Brigade for payment of the usual half-yearly grant of £1210« for plant and uniform fund.-Granted.. ::

Application was made' by the U.D O.A. Board for the levy for the half-year, viz;, £3l 18s 2d. -

THE QUEEN STREET CHANNELS.. ; : ' ": In reply to the Ohairiuan, Or Heron, as Chairman of the Works ' Committee said that it wsb the intention to employ the Borough staff at • replacing the Quenn street channels. Cra Hessey and Dixon thought it. 9 would be advisablo to call tenders for the work. Cr Dixon moved in this direction, tenders to close at next, meeting.
