, Monthly Meeting. The ordinary monthly meeting of tho North Wairarapa Benevolent 80. oiety, was held to-day (Thursday). Present: Messrs R,T. Holmes (chairman), W, H, Beetham, Stuokey, j£. Feist, Dagg and Porry. ' MINUTEB, . The minutes of the previous meet" ing were read and conformed, THE KAN CANNON. Tho Chairman stated that the Society had done their duty as far as possible by the man Oannou. Mr Boutham said he thought the Wellington Society had spoken too hastily, without knowing'what wtro the facts of the case. Mr Stuokey said that from what he had heard this case was made a piece of revenge on the representatives of the Lower Wairarapa, The Itev. Vau Btaveren, in a conversation had said that tho Wairarapa was all ono to him. DDSN's 048 E. The case of Dunn was considered, and it was stated that when he oamo outofgaollieluvl got drunk, consequently tho authorities of the Homo had refused to admit him. He had got some money by tho sale of fowls, and by this means got the drink. The Society decided to send him to the Home if llip application wis accepted. The Beoretary was instructed to communicate with tho custodian of ihe Home, asking that he arrange to receive the man Dunn on arrival, OLD HEN'S lIOHE,
I Mr Btuokey stated tbat he had visited tho Old Men's Home, and found it fairly well conducted, he did not think the ventilation- was good, but on mentioning this to Mr Van Stavoren, that gentleman seemed to have a different opinion,
On the motion pI Mr Stuokey, seconded by Mr Feist, it was resolved that the Secretary tvrito to the custodian of the Old Men's Home, making an application /or the admission of Mrs Weavers, and stating the oiroumstanccß of the oase, | WSSSOB/.-' The action of the Chairman in connection with the additional allowance to the child, King, in charge ol Mrs Yorke, was confirmed, the additional allowance to be continued if found necessary. The Chairman stated that tho United District Charitable Aid Board had forwarded the amount of supplies due for four months.
The Secretary stated tbat the balance at bank was £lB6 12s lid, against which there were cheques outstanding for £3olos 9d. On tho motion of Mr Beetham, soconded by Mr Feist, it was resolved that the case of Mrs Hedgor be left in the hands of the Chairman and Secretary to deal with, on receipt of Or Beard's report,
Several casual oases were reported to have been dealt with during the month, and the action of the Secretary was confirmed. The Du Fratus oaso was discussed, and any action to be taken wis left in the hands of the Chairman and (Secretary,
Accounts amounting to £57 7s 5d were passed for payment. Tho Secretary was instructed to ascertain where the dead swagger was interred, and report at next meeting, The regular cases were considered, and ordered to be continued till next meeting. There was no other business and the meeting adjourned.
