The N.Z. Football Team.

The New Zealand team of Footballers arrived shortly after 10 a.m., tbo wharf was crowded in spite of bid weather and on buing driven to 'i'bomus' Hall the team received a tromsnjousovation. The Premier, on behalf of the people of N.Z. welcomed tbe team and thanked them for the manner in which the; had upheld the reputation of iho Colony, The Mayor of Wellington read a lettor of congratulation from HisExcellenoy the Governor. Mr Eolleston in on earnest speech welcomed the team, as affording an occasiou on which all creeds and parties were merged in prido and good fellowship, Mr Geo. Campbell, 09 Manager of the team, sketched the tour and voiced the feeling of deep gratification among the men at the splendid hospitality received in Australia, Hearty cheers ffere given for the Premier, the Mayor, Mr Eolleston, and the Union Steam Shipping Company, with three times three for oar Australian friends, Mr Campbell in particular dwelt upon the fervent gratitude of the Queensland Governmortt as expressed in person by the Colonial Secretary, and of the Queensland people generally as stated by their many prominent men, for the generous aid given by New Zealand at the great national disaster, The Mayor formally invited the ieatn to meet the people of Wellington at a sooial gathering to-morrow night, and the preliminary welconi9 was oVer.
