(By an Occasional Correspondent,) A meeting of tho Pahiatua Chess and Draughts Club Committee was held injjje Club Room on Wednesday jtfting, 19th inst. Present— (chair), Turner, and Beaufort. A letter was received from Mr Godstohalk tendering his resigns'. • tioti as Secretary to the Club. Tho resignation was accepted wiih regret. It was resolved to commence the final round of the Chess Championship Tournampnt between Messrs Norton anil Godstchnlk, on Tuesday, 25th inst., also the draughts contest between Messrs Vile and fladford, Resolved that Mr Godstchalk be asked to procure trophies for the above tournaments, Mr McCrea was appointed Secretary in Mr Godstelmlk's place. New members were eleoted as follows; —Messrs Hdett, Morluy and Dash. It was moved by Mr Tumor and seconded by Mr Beaufort that a hearty vote of thanks be given lo Mr Godstchalk for past services in connection with she Club. This was curried unanimously, and a vote of thanks to the chair concluded the business, Mr Rutherford from Feildingis Mr at the Bank of New Zealand here.
