The opponents of the Veto Bill surely made a mistake when they called upcm " working-men " to meet in Trafalgar Squaro to protest against ■■• Temperance legislation. The working men certainly met, and they gave ' their verdict in no hesitating fashion on tbo Veto Bill, but they did not defend tbo Bide oi tho publican, Of course, the promoters of tho meeting were very indignant, and now the Temperance party is being severely censured for the action in Trafalgar Square, But as the MetbodistTimes points out,' working men wore invited to come in thousands'; they came, they protested, »ud they conquered, only they conquered tho publican and upheld the Veto Biil. Nor is it quite fair to call menliko tho Hon. and Kov, Canon Leigh, the Hon. Conrad Dillon, Mr Joseph Nix, and others, "rowdies."
