Legislative Council. WEDNESDAY, JULY 12, DISTRICT OOUETS JURISDICTION EXTENSION BILL. The Council went into committee on this Bill, which was passed through without material amendment. The Bill was then put through final stages. REPRESENTATION ACT AMENDMENT BILL, In moving the second reading of this Bill, the Attorney-General remarked that under the existing Act of 1887 it was impossible for-anyone to know whether he was on the roll or not, and this Bill was intended to remedy the deficiency.

The Hon. Downio Stewart the women had the franchise given them this session the question might be raised whether they were entitled to go on the roll in order to vote at the uext elections, and it should be made quite clear that up to the ieaue of the writs the rolls might be added to [by such names as were entitled to be put upon them,

The Bill was read a second time on tho Toices and the Council then rose,

House of Representatives, CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES, The Premier gave notice that ho would move that Mr Guinness be appointed Chairman of Committees, BILLS BEAD A FIRST TIME. The following Bills ware read a first time ;-A Bill intituled an Act to enable the Trustees of tbe Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association' to dispose of certain landi vested in them by lottery, Mr Sandford; Technical Education Bill and Public Schools Bill, Mr Fisher; Labour Department Bill, Tenders Bill, Workmen's Wages Bill and Conspir-i acy Law Amendment Bill, Hon. W. P, Reeveß.

The House was then occupied until the adjournment at ten minutes pass 12 last night, with the debate on the Financial Statement,
