LICENSING COMMITTEE.

Adjourned Meeting, Tho adjourned meeting of the Mas* ' terton Borough Licensing Committee was held to-day. Prcseat; Messrs Heron (Chairman), J. Williams, E, E. Chamberlain, and W. Perry, | ROYAL HOUSE, This was an application for renewal of license. Mr Pownal •, stated that ho now applied for a , renewal of tho license to Mr Rayner. Mw Bayner had obtained a protection , order in accordance with the Act of i 1880, and was now able to hold the ( license. In order, however, that Mrs < Bayner might not be hampered by tochnecalities in affecting a sale, he did not wish a transfer to be made to . her, and would ask that the Committee grant the license to Mr Rayner and give him leave of absence, author- l ising Mrs Rayner to oarry on the business. . ■ ,

Proof of the protection order was given by the Olerk of the Court. Sergeant MoArd|e said that even since last meeting, a complaint had been made to him of a theft having been committed in the house, and convioted thieves still frequented it. The Committee retired to consider the application and the Chairman stated that thoy. had, docided to grant the application, provided the license was granted to Mrs fiayner.
