SCHOOL CONCERT AT MAURICEVILLE EAST.

A concert of ft most praiseworthy kind was given at tho Oliorol Hall on Friday night last by the juvenile amateurs attending tho Mauriceville East school, which was certainly the most pleasing affair, without exception, oyer held in connection with any school in tho district, and refleois ths highest credit on the children them' selves, as well as on their highly efficient and capable master-Mr Worboys—and his talented assistant, Miss McKenzie. The programme consisted of music, songs, and recitations, and tho mannor in which tho young folks acquitted themselves throughout, won the admiration of tho large audience who attended the entertainment.
The following are some of tho items rendered Overture,, " Soldier-Boys March " ; l'iano with violin accom* paniwonl, Miss Muy and Master Bichaul Doiset; Dialogue, Master Len Biooiw ; Recitation, "S tying and doing," 0. Can oil; Song, " A boy's best friend " (full choir); Recitation," The boy who told a lie," Pearly Hull; Song, '• Ring the bell watchman " (full choir); Reci'ation, " Hoheniindi'ii," Katie Giay; Recitation, " Marmioi) and Dmi«las," Alex. Hull ; Chinese story, Eity Eagle; Song," Three little pigs" (full choir); Reeitatim, " Helps to read," Bertha Brenchley; Song, " The Country Squire,' Richard Dorset; Song, "Tho Chnmoiion," Mary Brodersen; Song, ■' Gome home father," Katie Carroll, Bertha Brenohley, and Hillas; Song, '• The noble boy," Willie Hos-sitt-r ; Krcitaiion, " Longing for home," Lucy Alallubnr; Song," TJin Totupes'," May Dorset; Song,"Home sweet home" (full choir). The singing tho National Anthem brought to a close an entertainment which it is to be hoped will bo repeated Bt fomo future time. The success of the. affair v/hs due to a laige extent to the careful training of their teachers, whose painstaking is fully appreciated by the children's parents, No troul'lo was spared in coaching the young people, and advantage was taken (outside of foliool hours) of the Hall and piano, to which they had recess at all times, thanks to tho proprietor (Mr Cottiss). Some uf the children showed native talent of a huh order, and they all deserve tlw highost praise for the 'adimrablo manm-r in which they conducted themselves, 1 feel that 1 ltavo not done tliera justice in this brief notice but 1 I rust when they read this report in the Daily Times they will pardon me if I have left out anything that ought to have been mentioned.
