A Flat Contradiction.

Sir—ld your leader of yesterday you have tho audacity to state that" everybody knows that, for a pretty obvious consideration Mr Hogg weakly consented to become the tool of two County magnates, Dr Hosking and Mr E. Meredith," and in your editorial comment upon Dr Hoaking's and Mr Hogg's letters in this days issue of your paper, you say that: " It was reported that prior to the late eleotion Mr Moredith offered his support to Mr Geo Beetham provided the latter would help him in a certain privato matter in which ho had an interest, and that on Mr (r, Beetham refusing to pledge himself, ho went across to Mr Hogg." It is well said that the moat damaging lies are those which have a grain of truth at the bottom, Yon havo carefully aharained from introducing into oither of your fabrications, above quoted, that in. tmitesimal modicum of truth. I absolutely deny having ever mado overtures of any kind to Mr Hogg, tending to lay either of,us under obligation to the other. And I also as emphatically deny that I offered to support Mr Geo. Beetham at the last election, or that I over solicited his assistance in any private matter. I took no part whatever in the last election beyond polling my vote, whioh I recorded for Mr Beetham, lam, etc,, . Edwin Mekemih, Llandaff, 20th June, 1893.
