Meeting of Creditors, By Telegraph.—Speolal Correspondent. Pahiatua, Friday. A meeting of creditors in tho estate of Alex. Black, was held in the Town Hall yesterdey, the Deputy Offioial Assignee (Mr W. B. Chennells) presiding, The Assignee reported that he had received two tenders for the equity of redemption of Mr Black's house, as fol-lows-:—B. P. Perty (Masterton), £6O j B. P, Greville (Pahiatua), £SO. He proposed to accept the highest tender, A tender had been received for Mr Blaok's interest in the lease of the Star premises from Mr Briggs for the Herald Newspaper Company, of £25 10s, and from Mr R. P Greville, £5, ! Mr Briggs'' tender nai rejected, on account of his demanding immediate possession, and a private offer of £25, made by Mr Greville has been accepted. Mr Briggs moved that upon £lO being subscribed, the house be handed back to \ the . debtor. He said the law allowed , them to give back £SO worth of estate. Mr Vile seconded, Mr R. P. Greville moved aB an amendment that the highest tender be accepted. I Seconded by Mr F. W. B. Grevillo and I carried by the mover and seconder who ] voted for, the remainder of the creditors being against. On account of Mr Tossn ill's claim being again rejected, through not having been taxed, these two creditors had tho strongest voting power. 1 The matter of furniture was held over I until next meeting. ] In reply to a question the Assignee i said that 1125 cash had been paid , for the Star and a two months bill given ' by R. P. Greville and endorsed by F. W. 1 B. Greville, for the balance, The bank 1 reported this as satisfactory. ; The meeting then adjourned for four < weeks. . •'• |
