Mr Cockburn-Hood was elected Chairman. • Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, ," Correspondence was received from Messrs Percy Bros,, T. P, Girdwood, '' D. Gillon, W, M. Laing, J...W. Laing, I enclosing rates. , . From County Offices, requesting a . statement of receipts and expenditure, and assets and liabilities of the Board, y for the year ended Slab March, 1898, for transmission to the Colonial Treasurer, Prom Mi; R. A. 'Niobolls.replan of new- road lino through Block X, Mangapakelia." ; From the Assistant-Surveyor General, re road through Block X, Mangaps Win; stating th.at.Mr Simpson's plan of ahovo has now been received, and a tracing can bo prepared at t 1 coat of 21s, ■ '■' ' ' From Messrs John Johnson and C > W. Burden, requesting the name 0 1 Ohatlcs Wilson Burdon to be placet on the roll as owner of part sectioi ' MO, Knpuaraiig:i, ■ From Mr It. A. " Froui the Laud and Survey Offict 1 re the W-duui-u-nwpu road line, Fiom tho Star office, requesting a ' share of the Board's advertising, Mr U. Ims wailed on the Board re altering a portion of tlm Munge--1 of the river, Tho roadman reported upon the dangerous state of the culvert over the deep creek on Miller's liue, and also the necessity of proteotive works against the river near the junction ol the Wainui-o-mapu and Taueru, as a flood at any time is liable to take away the toad. Resolved that the names of Charles Wilson Burdon and W, R, Lang be placed on the roll. That the plan of now road line the Block X, Mangapakeha, bo obtained, and the cost charged to Loan account, That Mr W. Wilton be invited to attf.nd Iho next meeting of the Board to discus the proposed deviation of the Mur.gerai road line, That McGovem's contract he supplemented by a grant iif.fi). That timber be ordered for putting in a new culvert on Miller's line, and Hint the work be proceeded with as soon as possible; ,and that a cutting ' be made through a portion of the j Glendonald estate, to alter the course ofihe'river, tho owners having given their consent provided that protective works erected to their satisfaction by ' fanning and planting willows. , That the roadman be authorised to '. obtain a load of willows, ' Ihul a small bridge be erected ■ across the oreck on the road to Alfred- • ton as requested by Mr Rutberfurd, 1 at once. That notice be given of the intention of the Board to striko a rate of 3-Bths of a penny in the £, on all the raieablfl property of tho district, at j their next meeting, Tbat the next meeting of the Board sbnll bo held on the first Saturday in July. Accounts amounting to £39 10s wore passed for paymeut and the meeting adjourned.
