The Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Association used to advertise its balance sheet annually, now it is more modest and simply circulates it amongst members, Wo have seen a copy of it and gather from it that the ordinary receipts last year, reached about £530 and the expenditure £SOO, but as there appear to be about £7O of liabilities outstanding, the result is not altogether an pflcojiragi|ig one, Funnily enough thp item on the expenditure side which appears most extravagant is one for priming and advertising—£66 6s 7d—and this isa puzzle to us, because we never knew the Secretary to plunge ip the matter of (idvertjsipg, iini[ judging from some of the printing winch has come under our notice, it ought not to have cost much. We fear lrom the general look of the balance sheet that the Association shows signs of decadence, There is a Borew loose somewhere, but our knowledge of its administration is insufficient to enable us to indicate the particular Ecrew which is ahaky., The statement as a whole requires
investigation, as we understand the auditors have not passed it, although members are led to believe that they have. We have, of course, some knowledge of tl-o advertising and printing arfangements, and here'wp jibing more tl'an mere extravagance. It is ruffled .'jM' 0 one instance twelve hundred ana fifty erosive certificates ffljre pfjfttpd where only one hundred werp % quired. We have not been able, HI the absence of the Secretary, to verify some of the reports afloat, but a probing investigation in ow
necessary in tho interests of the Assooia'inn.
