jeSces, (By Telegraph,—Press- Association.) Wellington, Friday; Frederick Lind, for larceny from a dwelling in-, the Manawatu' district, received three years penal servitude. Hii Honor, Judge Richmond, said itwas absolutely necessary to secure the public against persons of the prisoner's kind. Samuel Trudgeon,a youth, received 12 months for larceny. /Judge Richmond said tins was a case of an exceedingly weak minded youth, arid lie wished there was'some; separate:,way of treating oflendorsof this description. His Honor felt' disposed to send : liiin to a Criminal Lunatic Asylum, saying that there'.was no doubt;tl)at,a large number of the prisoners who stood at the bar should bo treated as lunatics, and not criminals. He trusted meanß iwould be found to keep Tmdgeon from the common heard of fellows. :■•.
