London, May 10. Mr W, Redmond's amendment, to call the Irish Legislative tlio Irish Parliament, wis rejected by a large majority. Sir libnry James has accepiod the Premier's challenge, and will movea new clause declaring the supremacy of the Imperial Parliament m case of dispute. An amendment proposing that the Irish Legislature shall be subordinate to the Imperial. Parliament was rejected by 85, Mr Gladstone objecting to it as putting a bar sinister upon the Irish Parliament. Id Committee to-day. Mr Thomas W, liussell, M,P, for Tyrona, moved an amendment to abolish tho provision mado in, the Homo Rule Gill for a second chamber, and declared (hit. it would only result in useless discussion, Mr Gladstone, in reply, said the. ■Nationalists, approved, the clause, and the experience of tho colonies justified a second chamber. ■ Mr Davitt will not return to Parliament this session.
