Monthly Meeting.

Wakelin (ex-mayor) waited on the Coutioii With reference to some remarks made at last meeting re bis action in agreeing to tbe sinking fund being invested in the Public Trust Office instead of the P.I. and Loan Association of Wairarapu. He stated that he bad done so in good fui'b, bat bad not calculated correctly. Also that tlio Council bad instructed him not to leave Wellington until hit bad definitely arranged for the loan. The loan solicitors would not accept any o'lier terms. The M'l.ior said that at the lost meeting ho bad said that the Onunoil would lose about £!2UO through luveßting in the Public Trust Office. Mr Kemptou'sapology was accepted with regret, Mr Hornblow's letter was referred to Ihe Inspector of Nuisances, The ranger explained that only 7s should bave been charged Mr Nation instead of 8s Gd, The Town Clerk wan instructed to enquire into tbe matter, and refund the overcharge (if any). Mr Butcher asked how long a horse could be left in the pound, without advertising it. The matter was referred to the T«wn Clerk. Hia Worship apologised for his absence from the last meeting.

—The reports of tbe Finance and Works Committees were adopted. The Inspector of Nuisances, Registrar of doga, and Poundkeapers reports were also read. The tender of Mr Geo. Pound was l accepted for patting. in a culvert at Maxtons Bridge for £2O. Some considerable dissuasion took place as to the sanita-iy arrangements of tbe township, and it was left in tbe hands of the Mayor, to make the beat arrangements he eonld. The following were elected as [Trustees to the Grey to wq Cemetery :■ —His Worship the Mayor, Crs W. Udy, H. McMaater, Heagerty, Cameron, and Messrs W, F. fioydhouse andH. Udy. It was resoked to hold a meeting on Monday evening next at 7 o'clock.

Mr-R. Ward Tate asked that some steps be taken to drain tba water from hia gateway in Great Frederick Street. It was resolved that the Works Committee and Overseer visit the place and take whatever action was necessary.

It was decided that the Mayor visit Wellington on Thursday next to arrange for the completion of the loan.
