fin Elopement Story.
A rather singular elopement story basjust come to light in Masterton, It appeora that some time ago a stevedore named Thomas Alfred Traoey employed at Port Melbourne, and who kept a boarding house, left Melbourne in search of work, which he eventually obtained atQisborne, leaving bis wife and three children, Owing to some report reaohing him regarding his wife's conduct ho returned to Australia, but being satisfied that there was no grounds for the rumours he again left for New Zealand, finally renjhing Wellington. To his surprise, a few days ago, he received word that his wife was on board the Warrimoo, and when he went down to the svharf to meet the vessel he found this to beperfeotly true, and ; that she was also accompanied by a man named John Travers. Mrs Traoey refused to leave Travers and eventually they eluded Tracey and came to the Wairarapa, apparently intending to settle down in Masterton. Tracey, howover, discovered where his wife had flown to, through the assistance of the police, and following up laid an information against Travers, oharging him with the larceny of certain arttoles including two pictures and a sewing machine. A search warrant was obtained, the artioles discovered, and Travers duly arrested. He will be brought before tho Masterton E,M Court to-day.
