Sergeant Manning stated that on tho afternoon of the Sunday in question he saw the woman come out of the hotel yard carrying a parcel which on examination proved to be a bottle of beor. Isabella Bmdloy said she was supplied with tho beer by a man in the bar, but it nan too dark for her to see who ho was. Mr Ooates for tho defence contended that to establish the charge it mußt bo shown that the licensee himsolf or somo person authorised by him supplied the liquor, but it would be shown that a man named Collins, who was Bitting in tho bar, served the liquor while the dofondant was down in tho cpllar, Evidence having been given by tho defondant and the man Collins, His Worship said he could not hold the defendant responsible, and ehwld, dinnies tlriia«,«-lMj.
