'Pupil Teachers Examination.

In their report to tho Board of Education on the results of tlio rocent examination of pupil teachers, tho Examiners (Messrs Lee and Fleming) state that 68 candidates wero examined, ton of whom tailed to obtain promotion—two on account of age only; four others, who bad not received instruction for six months, were not counted as failures, and four wero counted as failures. In grammar, the work of the senior candidates was very fair, the average boing 65 per cent on a somewhat easy paper, The juniors were not quite so successful, their avorage only reaching 58 per cent. Of tho seniors, Ella Barron, (Mnaterton), arid Mary H. Wilson, (I'flngatainolfo), and of the the juniors, Nellio Riddick (Featberston), Kato McKay (Hastwell), and Ethel Keith (Mount Cook Girls), did excellent papers. The composition work as a whole was good, but the best papers were by Caroline Kelliber (Fernridgo), Mary H. Wilson, and Ernest H, Ballachey (unattached). The school managementpaper was satisfactorily answered by all but one or two exceptionally weak candidates. The best'papers were by Mary H. Wilson, Ethel Seith, Elizabeth Benbow (Terrace School), and Kate Williams (Mount Cook Girls). The papers of George Jones (Newtown), Mary fi, Wilson, and Reginald Fosb (Carterton), in science subjects, are commended.
