Meeting of Settlers. (lirom Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the Stirling S.S, Asso« elation was held on Wednesday, the objeoi beiug to discuss tho best route for a road through the blocks. Mr Parsons, who was In the chair, mentioned that it was a meeting of tha associations to settle np the surrounding settlements. . MrNordel said that this association was willing to pay half the cost of a road from the Bull Tail Crossing. Mr Bayliss, Mr Neilson, and himself were asked to form a basis of the area rateable. They came to the conclusion that the basis wonld be: 5.8.8, £1,000; Parkville, £900; Wellington No. 1, £IOO. That would be tiie cost of the road through tho three blocks, Mr Morris wished to know if sections not directly abutting on the road could bo legally ratod, \ The Chairman : Certainly ; he didl not think that the settlers, should goi begging. Mr Timmins moved that a committee bo appointed comprising four members from the Stirling, three from the Wellington, and two from the Park villa Settlements to carry out the proposal, Mr Dowsett objeoted, The Chairman spoke strongly on' .the petty jealousy in these little 1 settlements instead of all joining together as brothers, One or two, unless they got their own everything that Was broudflßwaS, Mr Dowsett said thalKe'road. would oost more than tbjflff\pught, He would oppose tWffSJß**-, The Chairman the centre of the whole of the blocks. Mr Dowsetl: "I did not say so," The Chairman: "You did." MrDowsett: "I say I did not." The Chairman left the chair, demanding an apology from Mr DowBctt, who thereupon apologised. Tie Chairman then returned to the ohair. Mr Smith said that Mr Doweott came in to opaet the meeting. The proposal of Mr Timmins, was then seconded by Mr S.
