Mamon, Tuesday. ■ A young man, Fied Galpin, met his death in a painful manner at Opfier Eangitikei, yesterday. With his brother, he was driving a traotion engine up a hill, when some part of tho driving gear gave way, and it commenced to ran back. Both jumped, but Fred was knocked down and run over. Both legs wore broken and ho was also badly crushed in the region of the abdomen, Ho died about four hours afterwards. Tl>e deceased was a son of ono of the oldest settlers in tho district,
