FIRE BRIGADES.

(By Telegraph, -Press Association,) Wellington, Monday, A deputation of the Fire Brigades, accompanied by the Mayor of Christchurch, waited on the Hon. Mr Seddon this morning to ask the Government to introduce a Bill enabling a rato to be struck for Fire Brigade purposes on oil insurable property. The Minister pointed out that this would scarcely be practicable, but the deputation said thoy were prepared to supply details which they thought would overcome the difficulty. It was agreed to refer the Bill in the first inataiico to the Municipal Association. Tlio Minister assured the deputation, the proposal had his sym< pathy and Government would give it every consideration.
