MASJERTON— (TUESDAY, (Bcloro Messrs Butement and Eton, J.P.'s.) t | John Carmichael pleaded guilty to being drunk on Monday afternoon and was discharged with a caution. TRAVELLING IN THE WRONG CARRIAGE, Thos. Winteringham was charged with travelling on the railway on February 11th in a first-class carriage without paying other than a secondclass fare, Mr Skipper appeared for tho accused and pleaded guilty, stating that the oflenco was not committed with a view to defraud tho Government. He had got into the carriage to speak to a friend and the train moved on. At the Bamo timo ho had refused to pay the extra faro thinking he was not doing any wrong. The police on behalf of the Department did not press for a heavy penalty. Tlie Bench fined accused 10a with costs of Court lis. This was all the business,
