P. H, Wood reports as follows of the stock sale held by him at the Taratahi stock-yards on Thursday Sheep camo forward in large numbers, but the classes and quality were somewhat inferior to last sale, being principally f.m. ewes. Entries of cattle were small, there being only about one hundred yarded, and these principally calves and yearlings; all selling, however, at prices fully equal to last sale rates, while sheep showed a slightly downward tendency, though for anything of good quality there was fair competition, A number of horses were sold, but here again the class was poor and weedy. There iB always a demand for good upstanding hacks,
buggy horses, and light and heavy draughts; but the sooner breeders recognise that weeds are not wanted, and stop breeding them, the better. Prices realised at Thursday's sale ore quoted as under: —Sheep: Fat owes, 10s sd, fat wethers, medium, lis Id; store wethers, 9s 3d to 9s 7d; breeding owes, 7« fid to 9s; cull ditto, 3s fid to Cs Gd; shorn lambs, 6s 6d to 7s Gd. Cattle: calves, 80s to BGs; two year old steers and heifers, 50s to 555; cows, GOs to 100s. Horses: Light, 80s to £l2,
