FEATHERSTON TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the) Featherston Town Board was held on Monday night, there being present Messrs W. C'undy (Chairman), A. Donald, G. Eeynolds, W. Hodder, 1 junr., and J. Beal. -. Tho Treasurer reported a credit balance off 13 17s 9d, Accounts amounting to £22 8s 7d woro passed for payment. From Mr J. G. Cox ro clearing gores in one of his paddocks. The inspector of tho pouhdkeeper'B book handed in six shillings, pound fees. The Registrar of Dogshanded in the sum of £8 6a 6d. Tho Inspector|of Nuisances reported everything satisfactory, The Collector reported the rates paid iu since last meeting at L 4 6s. It was resolved to call tenders for twenty-one chains of metalliug in Brandon Street.

Mr Boal suggested that the cleaning of the water table in' Fitzherbert street near the railway station be com-pleted.-This matter was left in the hands of the Works Committee. A notice to strike a rate having been received, Mr Reynolds said it was necessary that an estimate of money required for the coming year be laid before the Board in order that a proper rate bo struck. Mr Donald said thero would be no need to prepare an estimate; what they needed was £IOOO. At any rate they would be able to use up all they were likely to get next year, ' Mr Reynolds was of opinion that the rate should be raised, Mr, Bealj also asked ' that a few oads of gravel be put down in Brown street',' and a plank over the oreek which crossed the road.—lt was de* cided that this be done when the carts were out for gravelling. Mr Beal then requested that something be done to improve the path in front of Mr Gilpin's and that the Ranger impound any horses ridden on the path. It waß resolved to postpone the next meeting of.tlie Board till the 10th of April. It was resolved that tho goroe on the boundary of the town be cleared, and that the streets be closed'for the grazing oi cattle after-the 10th of April, '■■ '" :'
