Monthly Meeting. k regular monthly meeting of isterton Town Lands Trustees was held in tlio Borough Council Chambers last evening, PresentMessrs W, Lowes (Chairman), E, Feist, S. E. Oapper, H. E. Eton and A, W. llenall, MINUTES. The minutes of the last ordinary and a special meetitg were read aud confirmed. Mr Eton said he should liko the fact recorded that he voted against the scholarship grant to Mr Waito, The Chairman said this could be done. FINANCIAL, The Treasurer's report showed n credit balance at date of £loßlos 7d, COMtESPONDENCE. Mr T. Jago wrote, applying for the use of tho paddock near the main school for twelve months, on condition that he put tlio fence in repair, Mr Lowes said the l.nd was lying idle. Ho thought the application might be granted.
Mr Feist moved and Mr Eton seconded, that Mr Jagn's request bo granted.—Carried.
FIRE BRIGADE, Thfi Chairman said the next question was (be fixing a rent lor tlw site required by tlio Fire Brigade for a station. Ho would move that the Property Tax valuation be taken and a from the Borough for three terms of Beven yonrg each. Mr Gapper asked what would be done with the Sheep Office, Mr Feist eaid he thought the Borough Council nnderstood the cottage would bo included in the rontol asked, The Clerk said Captain Pickering intended to keep a man in the cottage, Tho Chairman said that with the permission of the Trustees ho would alter his motion to read that the rent be Lls per annum for 21 years, the cottage to be included, Mr Feist seconded and the motion was carried. REPAIRS. Mr S. E. Gapper was appointed to inspect one of the emigrant cottages, and report on the necessary repairs at the next meeting. voters' libt, The Clerk informed tbo meeting that no objection had been made to the Voters' List. IDE TOWN lUI/L, Mr E, F. Temple wrote, stating he was desirous of securing the property now occupied by Mr Kawson, in Hallstreet, and also sixteen feet of tbo land adjoining, for tlw purposo of erecting a substantial shop and dwelling. Some discussion re tho proposed Town Hall took placo. Mr Feist did not bee why the progress of tho town should bo kept Lack for the Town Hall, The opposite cornor would do just as well, or soino other site, The land was simply lying sa j£ a p rflV i oUS application had boon before tho meeting and refused (or tho same piece of land, on tho ground that it would bo required for a Town Hall, Mr Itenall said thero was no decent placo in Maatonon at present to hold anything in. They might raise the portion of ft cost of tho ball und borrow the rest. Mr Gapper said bo boppd to bo in a position to givo the limber for a hall next year. Mr Feist did not consider it was so material that the Town Hall should be next to the Court bouse. There y«e other suitable sites. However, ho could seo the Trust was against Mr Temple's application, Mr Eton moved that the Cltrk inform Mr Templojkt tho trustor cannot see to grant li.'s implication.
