(By a Correspondent). Mi' J, L, Day, our muoh-estoamod station master, is leaving üb, having been promoted to tho position of Chief Olork at tho Bluff Railway Station. Hia departure ut very muoh regretted by eveiybody who has had any business at ■ the Mauriceville Railway Station while Mr Day has been in charge. Tho lead* j ing aettlere of Maurioeville entertained Mr Day at dinner last night, at Mr Gottins' TemperancoHotel,and tho affair was attended by about 20 friends. Exaotly at seven o'clock we sat down to a well* spread table presided over by Mr Gunderson, with tho guest of tho evening on his right, After full justice had been done to the good things set before us, the Chairman proposed the toast, "Tho Guest of the Evening," in afew, but well chosen remark Mr Day responding, said that he could hardly - words bis feelings about thokiudJßH nor in wbioh he bad beenafflßH not only that evening but dnrftHH whole time ha had beon at MauricevweT' He was happy to say that he had not made a single lotsof friends. Although ho could not say ho was sorry toleavo Maurioeville as the transfer meant promotion, he was sorry to leave all his friends behind him.
