THEFT FROM A BANK.

(By Telegraph—Pregß Association), Auckland. February 27. A young man named R. M. Madill, clerk in tbe employ of the Tramway Company, has reported to tbe police that he was robbed of £4O while counting money at tbe counter of the Bank of New Zealand. He says that a stranger tapped him on the ahouldor, telling him he had dropped a note, and he (Madili) stooped to pick it up. The pound which ho found was not his, bat ia the meantime a calico bag whioh he had on the counter, containing £4O, had disappeared, and bo had the stranger.
